Phoning the Club

You can phone the club at (061) 227549 or (061) 227974.  Someone should be on duty in the bar each evening from 7pm, and also in the mornings.

Please phone to arrange your time, and book and pay for the court.  Fees are payable directly to the coach.

New Members

New members are encouraged to join in the many tennis competitions and social events at the club.  Please feel free to contact Sinead de Freitas, who is our New Members facilitator, for help.

SODS Golf Society

The Spirit of Dundrum Society is a golf society within the CIAC.  Subscription for the year is €25.  Next outing is on May 29th in Charleville.  For more information, contact MJ Kehoe or Ailish McMahon.

Tennis Ladder

The ladder is an excellent way to hone your singles skills, usually playing three competitive matches a month against people at a similar level to yourself.  To join the ladder, simply add your name on the notice board or contact Sean Moran who is coordinating this year’s ladder.

Round 4 finishes on the 10th of May.

Social Committee

All members are encouraged to support the social events organized by the Social Committee throughout the year.  Details of this year’s events will be announced soon.  The social committee members are as follows: Emer McLoughlin (Chairperson), Mary Moran (Secretary), Cliodhna Mulcahy (Treasurer), Tommy Sweeney, Pat Biggane, Gillian Hickie, Anne Tuohy, Michelle O’Grady, Ailish McMahon, Mairead Sweeney and Angela Dillon.

Junior Tennis

Supervised tennis for Junior Members is provided on Saturday afternoons (3:30-4:30pm) at the club. Please contact Mary O’Connor for more information.

Website Launch

We plan to make publication of this newsletter a more regular event.  In addition, we plan to put the same info, and more, on a new website – please watch your inbox for information about this exciting launch!

Did You Know…?

Court fees are payable at all times – no exclusions for weekends, etc.  The money goes towards paying for the maintenance of the facilities … Believe it or not!

 

 

 

Upcoming Events

 

The following events are coming up in the next few weeks and months.  The club notice board also has details of forthcoming events.  Mark your diaries!

Mortgage Search Doubles

Entry forms can be obtained from the clubhouse and should be handed in before 7:30pm on Mon 19th April, when the draw will be made.  The competition runs from 26th April to 21st June, and consists of Men’s and Ladies Doubles; you can enter as a pair (select your own partner) or as an individual (partner will be supplied).  Entry fee of €15 includes court fees.

Summer Cup

Members who are interested in representing the club in the upcoming Summer Cup competitions should sign their name on application form on the notice board or contact Sean Prior on sprior@revenue.ie or 061-212752 (w) before Thu 22nd April.  All grades and standards are catered for!

Club Championships

This competition will run from 10th to 14th May.  Watch the notice board for closing date and other information.

Winter League

Congratulations to the Men’s Division 3 Team who won the Munster Final on Sunday 28th March in Sundays Well Club in Cork.  The panel consisted of Pat Biggane (Captain), Sean Goggin, Tony Kelleher, Paul Beary, Darragh Devanney, Mike Galvin and Paddy Duffy.

Congratulations and thanks to all those who represented the club in the Winter League.

Junior Club Championship

The Junior Club Championships were held over 3 days from 5th to 7th of April, and were a great success, with a turn-out of 65-70 kids.

A special “Thank You” to the organizers and helpers: Mary O’Connor, Mary Moran, Gillian Hickie, Sinead de Freitas, Sean Moran, Noreen Scanlon, Tommy Sweeney, Cliodhna Mulcahy and the numerous parents who helped out. Also to Eugene, who was gotten out of bed early on two separate mornings!
