event kicked off on 29th September and runs on Mondays nights
throughout October and November. The
semi-finals and finals will take place on Monday 1st December. |
Winter LeagueWe have
five teams entered in the Winter League starting in November. There are 2
mixed teams entered in Division 6, one captained by Billy Hilliard and the
other by Mary O’Halloran. Marina Gallagher is
captaining the Division 5 Mixed team, while Ultan O’Nuallain captains the Division 4 Mixed team and Pat Biggane the Division 3 Mens.
Anyone interested in playing should contact the respective captains. Christmas American
Doubles
The Christmas American Doubles will take place on
the 8th and 15th of December. Prizes will be presented
on the 15th, as well as the perpetual trophies for the Ladies' and
Mens' Ladders. Round off the evening with mince
pies and mulled wine. |

6 Mens were beaten in the final by Rushbrook who also were the host club. Panel was
captained by Billy Hilliard. Other team members were: Liam Burke, Gordon
Grace, Sean Prior and John Hickie. Division
4 Mens were beaten in the final by Canon Hayes
Tipperary. Panel was captained by Ultan O’Nuallain. Other team members were Mike Galvin, Alan
Kelly, Mike Strappe, Kevin O Connor and Denis Giltenane. This final was also held in Rushbrook. Division
3 Mixed were beaten in the plate final in St. Anne’s

The Limerick Open Tennis Championships at the Catholic Institute took place from 5th July, with the nineteen finals taking place on Saturday, July 12th. The sponsors were Holmes O’Malley Sexton, Electrical Rewind Service and Elverys Sports. The entry, at over two hundred, was higher than recent years and included players from Clubs such as Tralee, Mallow, Ennis, Tipperary, Nenagh, Monaleen, Limerick Lawn and the host Club.
The Ladies “A” Singles title was won by Deirdre Hogan, while the Mens “A” final was won by Tony O’Shea (junior), who thus retained the trophy presented in memory of his late grandfather. Results:
