The 2008 Limerick Senior Tennis Open ran from 5th - 12th July. A huge number of competitors ̵= 1; more than double the number of entries in 2007 – played in twenty five different competitions over eight days, giving a great display of tennis. <= o:p>

On Finals day, matches began at 1pm, and
what a feast of tennis was served up to those watching. Free strawberries a=
nd
cream, and other finger food, were available to all throughout the afternoon
and evening.
Due to the lovely summer sunshine that
greeted us on finals’ day, the presentation of prizes and cups was he=
ld
outdoors. Beautiful Belleek vases and picture frames were presented to the
eventual winners and runners-up. Congratulations to all.
Great credit is due to Tennis Captain,
Irene Walsh, and her very hard working committee (plus extras) who made this
week such a success. From the excellent communication with all players prior
to, and during, the competition, and the courteous and professional manner =
in
which requests from all players were handled, this year’s competition=
was
a resounding success.
The tennis committee would like t= o extend their sincere thanks to everyone who took part, and made the week so enjoya= ble. The committee are also very grateful to the sponsors of the event (Millenni= um Surveys Ltd., Indigo Signs, Bank of Ireland, John Wiley & Sons, Lagan Group) without whose support this event would not be possible.
Tennis is continuing at Catholic Instit=
ute
with American Doubles for all beginning on Wed 16th July. Details
are available on the club website, http://www.ciac-limerick.org/tennis/home.shtml.
